Freddie Mac PMMS is a weekly survey average for conventional 30-year fixed purchase loans (20% down, excellent credit). The October 8, 2026 print was 7.40%. The jobs report describes September employment and was released October 2; the mortgage survey covers the week ending October 8. They are not the same observation.
