The Federal Reserve cut its short-term interest rate target by 25 basis points on Wednesday, December 10. That’s the third consecutive FOMC meeting resulting in a quarter-point cut. The target range for overnight lending in the fed funds market is now 3.75% to 3.50%, its lowest level in three years. The next FOMC meeting is scheduled for January 27-28.
