I had the opportunity to volunteer with Houston Area Urban League and the Houston chapter of The National Council of Negro Women earlier this month.

The mission was to register young adults to vote at several restaurants and popular adult venues near Downtown Houston.

Some of those venues included The Living Room, 5015, and The Quad.

The above picture was take at the The Quad, a restaurant and lounge in Third Ward, Texas.

This year's general election will be held on November 3, 2006.

Early voting will begin on October 19, 2026.

The SouthBelt Cookoff was a neighborhood tradition that combined a big high school reunion, bbq, live music, family, and friends and actual Longhorn cattle (seriously) for a neighborhood event.

Then, COVID-19 happened and the cook off took a bit of a break for a few years.

Flash forward to 2026 !

The SouthBelt Cookoff will be back this November 27th to 29th.

Antioch Ministries provides Christian based counseling, rehabilitation, and support services for men and women who are incarcerated and are nearing release.

I had an awesome experience as 2026 Blood Cancer United Visionary Of The Year Candidate.

My experience was capped of by an evening of celebrating our class of Visionaries @ The River Oaks Country Club.

I have conversations all the time with very intelligent people about the power about the power of saying "no".

The power of saying "no" can be part of our collective desire to be less stressful, happier, more rested etc.

More peaceful.

I get it.

I do not hear enough about the power of saying " yes".

How about the impact of saying "yes" to the right cause or organization?

In the case of the Visionaries Of 2026, the collecting impact has been projected to assist blood cancer warriers for decades.

For the 2026 Gulf Coast Visionaries Of The Year our collective agreement to say "yes" to helping others led to us having the highest combined impact in our region ever.

I had a great time volunteering.

I learned quite a bit about raising money for non profits. Especially the importance of saying thank you and acknowledging supporters.

As a conscious supporter of non profits through my company, some really great organizations forget to send a simple thank you note post receiving a donation.

That was not my experience with Blood Cancer United.

And of course the most valuable thing that I had reaffirmed was the importance of working in teams to impact more lives.

I had the opportunity to attend Open House for Civic Heart, a non profit organization that assists underserved communities in The Houston Area.

The CEO of Civic Heart, Anita Bates, and their leadership team have worked diligently to provide multiple essentials services for our Houston neighbors which includes health screenings, father and son relationship coaching, healthcare enrollment and financial assistance to qualifying families.

Fifty Shades Of Green was a weekend long themed event that served as a celebration of community activism, enterpreneurship, and political consciousness in our area.

The University Of Houston Football team started off their season with a win over visiting Oregon State @ TDECU Stadium on Labor Day weekend. I had the pleasure of tailgating with the award winning Code Red Tailgaters before the game.

I also had the guilty pleasure of drinking an unknown drink while tailgating ( see the video below). Which by the way is generally forbidden for anyone over the age of 22.

I just had one. I am happy to report that I suffered no ill side effects.

Great time. Great People. My favorite college football team won the game.

See y'all next week for the U of H versus Southern University game.

I started off my day in Pearland, Texas at Iguana Ranas at Regions Bank's Business Lunch and Learn Luncheon.

I had the opportunity to introduce myself and share information about the small business insurance and tax solutions that we provide at J And B Financial. I was able to share this information with the professionals and business owners in attendance.
