We post about this regularly but it warrants reminding for everyone’s safety.

With Tomball ISD schools back in session this month, it's important to remember to share the road safely by remaining alert and using extra caution while driving, especially around school zones, neighborhoods, and bus stops.

When driving near a school bus, remember:
🚌 Follow school buses at a safe distance, keeping in mind that they make frequent stops.
🚌 Yellow flashing lights mean the school bus is preparing to stop. Slow down and be ready to brake.
🚌 Red flashing lights and extended stop arms mean the bus has stopped to pick up or drop off children. You must stop and remain stopped until the red lights stop flashing, the stop arm is retracted, and the bus begins moving again. This applies regardless of which direction you're traveling, unless the bus is on the opposite side of a divided highway.
🚌 Illegal school bus passing poses a significant threat to children and others on the road. It is unlawful to pass a school bus when the stop arm is extended and red lights are flashing.

Good information about e-bikes.

🚨 NOT EVERY ELECTRIC BIKE IS STREET LEGAL IN TEXAS!

With students heading back to school, Constable Mark Herman’s Office is reminding parents and young riders to know the law before hitting the road.

Legal e-bikes must:

• Have fully operable pedals
• Have a motor of 750 watts or less
• Not exceed 28 MPH with motor assistance
• Obey all applicable traffic laws

⚠️ Electric dirt bikes and other motorized bikes that do not meet Texas requirements are not street legal and may result in citations, vehicle impoundment, or other enforcement action.

🏫 Constable Mark Herman recently sent a letter to the Aldine, Cy-Fair, Humble, Klein, Spring, and Tomball school districts requesting consideration of district-wide policies prohibiting unregistered electric motorcycles, including electric dirt bikes, minibikes, and pocket bikes, from being operated or parked on school property.
