We had a sweet surprise at the office recently — in more ways than one 🥧

Former Winstone team member Alaina Weber stopped by to catch up and brought the whole team pie (one of our guilty pleasures around here!).

We loved hearing how well she and her family are doing. One of our favorite things about this team is that the relationships don’t end when someone moves on. Once you’re part of the Winstone family, you’re always part of the Winstone family.

A very well-deserved congratulations to our own Lauren Smith on being named one of the Houston Business Journal’s 2026 Women Who Mean Business!

If you know Lauren, you know she’s not someone who seeks the spotlight—which is part of what makes this recognition so meaningful.

Lauren is truly the glue that holds so much together around here. She works tirelessly behind the scenes, anticipates what our team and clients need before they ask, and somehow manages to keep a hundred moving pieces moving in the right direction. And we know from years of client relationships that our clients feel the same way about her that we do.

Her leadership isn’t loud. It shows up in her consistency, her judgment, her willingness to step in wherever she’s needed and the genuine care she brings to the people around her.

Recently, I received some unexpected news: I found out I was selected as one of the Houston Business Journal's 2026 Most Admired CEO honorees.

I was genuinely surprised. When you've spent most of your career focused on serving clients, building a team, and helping a business grow one relationship at a time, you don't spend much time thinking about awards or accolades.

Nevertheless, the Houston Business Journal selected 37 leaders from across the Houston area for this year's recognition and I was apparently among them. This annual recognition showcases CEOs and business leaders who have made an impact within their organizations and throughout the broader business community. It is certainly an honor to be included among such an accomplished group.

That said, I don't view this as an individual achievement. Any recognition attached to my name is really a reflection of the people around me.

It's a reflection of the incredible team at Winstone Wealth Partners, whose dedication and commitment to our clients make our firm what it is. It's a reflection of the mentors, colleagues, and friends who have invested in me over the years and demonstrated the kind of leadership, character, and integrity that I continue to strive to emulate in my own career. And it's a reflection of the clients who have trusted us to be part of their lives, in many cases for decades.

I've always believed that leadership is less about titles and recognition and more about showing up every day, doing your best, treating people the right way, and trying to leave things better than you found them.

So while I am grateful for this honor, I'm even more grateful for the people who made it possible.
