It's true! It works best pressing it against your chin or temple. It's not a big boost, and it is situational, but it works. If you remember the trivia question about Boeing using potatoes when measuring wi-fi transmissions, your body is somewhat conductive. Because your head is ~73% water it can amplify the RF signal from your fob, like a booster antenna. Sources also say it is perfectly safe.
