This is the time to start preparing paperwork for your Form 990 report. For small organizations that use Form 990 EZ, this form can be done in minutes. Larger organizations may have to do a more exhaustive Form 990. For this, a CPA may be needed. The National Society of Accountants survey found, "The average cost for preparing a 990 Tax Form (tax-exempt organization) is $667." For all nonprofit federal exempt organizations, a 990 is required to be filed by May 15th. Every year, hundreds of organizations have their exempt status revoked due to not submitting Form 990. For help, contact a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) that has experience with nonprofit accounting. Make 2019 a year that your organization thrives.
