Thankful to have partners like Menowake that curate empowering conversations that allow for vulnerability, connection, and inspiration! Listening to the testimonies of Houston leaders who have proven to be resilient, faith heavy, and bet on themselves when everything else was falling apart nourished my soul yesterday! Ask me about the next Awaken-Her Houston series next month featuring panelists focused on health and well being. 🌷✨

It is always great to see so many friends, colleagues, and community leaders at the State of Houston City College! This is a wonderful event where we hear from the Chancellor and learn how the college is making an impact to our regional economy and student success. I am loving the rebranding and our proactive commitment to a skilled workforce. As Chair of Board Relations for the HCC Foundation, I am committed to finding passionate leaders who value higher education to serve on our Board as Directors or Ambassadors. If this sounds like you, let’s connect! 🎓✨

As the year comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on the highlights of an incredible year filled with meaningful partnerships, measurable impact, and personal milestones. This year, I had the honor of chairing the Power On Heels Fund, Inc. Annual Scholarship Luncheon. It was my first experience chairing a luncheon, making it a full circle moment for me, as I too have participated in the Power Purse program alongside my mom.

I am immensely proud of this achievement and grateful to Ivette Mayo for trusting me with such an important role this year. The work we do throughout the year culminates in this moment, where selected scholarship recipients are awarded. This effort truly transforms lives and strengthens our communities. I am thankful to lead such impactful work and look forward to what 2026 will bring. ✨

Kudos to Tarrell Stansberry and Angela Sosa for delivering a bilingual homelending workshop at our Stafford community room last weekend! ✨ I am grateful to have talented partners who meet the needs of our community and do it with a smile! We had trusted industry partners in the room that shared valuable information vital to the home buying journey. It takes a village and having trusted adviors be part of the most important purchase in your life can make such a difference!

I love to see this! If I would have had a mentor as I was entering college, I would have wished they told me to get involved in student associations and have a leadership position in them. There is a clear distinction in leadership from students who lead versus those who don’t and it is important to highlight while interviewing to secure a job after graduation.

If you are in college or will attend a university within the next few years, please consider what orgs to join and how you can lead! ✨👩‍🎓🧑‍🎓
