YARD & STORM DEBRIS
As League City staff focus on cleanup efforts and the restoration of City services across our community, we are also working on a comprehensive plan to pick up vegetative and storm debris from residential homes.

Please be patient, as the City partners with a contractor to facilitate pick-up service. IT MOST LIKELY WILL TAKE WEEKS TO REMOVE ALL YARD WASTE AND DEBRIS FROM RESIDENTIAL HOUSEHOLDS.

Below is the protocol we are asking residents to follow:

✔️Separate your trash bins/bags and recycling bins away from any vegetative or storm debris. Garbage cans, bags, and recycling bins should be placed on the curb during your NORMALLY scheduled AmeriWaste collection day.

✔️Separate yard and vegetative waste from storm debris (such as fencing) and place in separate piles on the curb (NOT in the street). Please bundle small branches when possible. Large tree limbs do NOT need to be bundled.

✔️Yard and storm debris will be picked up as a service separate from the City’s contract with AmeriWaste.

Again, pick-up of yard and storm debris could take days and weeks. We appreciate your patience as we work to remove all storm debris in neighborhoods and subdivisions across the city.

TWIA is responding to Hurricane Beryl. If you were impacted by this storm, you can report a claim to TWIA 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

• Call: Call (800) 788-8247 and select option 1

Have your TWIA policy number, best contact information, and property damage details ready. Please note that TWIA cannot accept claims that are reported through email or fax.

The Policyholder Portal at www.twia.org/claims allows you to report a new claim, check the status of your existing claim, view and upload photos and documents, view payment details, and send messages to the team handling your claim.

Tips for a swift claims resolution:

• Review your TWIA insurance coverage:
o Understand your coverage limits and deductibles. Your agent can help explain this information.
o Remember: TWIA does not cover storm surge/flood damage, and flood insurance does not cover wind or hail damage.
• Take pictures or video of any damage to your property.
o Download an inventory form to fill out at www.twia.org/claims.
• Make temporary or minor repairs to prevent further damage (twia.org/claims/repairs).
o Keep receipts and records of payment.
o Do not begin making permanent repairs until you and TWIA have communicated about your damage.
• Stay in touch with us about your claim; this helps ensure it is resolved quickly.
• Be wary of out-of-state contractors who show up at your door unexpectedly.
o Learn ways to protect yourself from fraud at www.twia.org/claims/fraud and Texas Department of Insurance websites.
• Understand the windstorm building code requirements for your area (www.twia.org/windstorm-certification).
o Contact the Texas Department of Insurance Windstorm Inspections Program to schedule a free inspection for applicable repairs.
