The stimulus package has finally been approved and this new version will provide direct payments to qualified individuals and businesses owners.

Checks of up to $1200 and $2400 are set to be sent to individuals based on income as well as $367 billion in federally guaranteed loans for small businesses.

Also, they have secured unemployment insurance that will provide up for 4 months worth of income to Americans who lost their job due to COVID-19.

🗣Attention🗣
Yesterday it was announced by the U.S. Secretary to the Treasury, Steven Mnuchin that if you owe money to the IRS you can defer up to $1M as an individual. This includes past debts if you are currently paying or on a payment plan.

What does this mean for you?

1. You must still file your taxes by the deadline, April 15th. As of now the deadline to file had not been extended.
2. If you are due to receive a refund this year but you have a past balance that you owe the IRS, your refund will be applied towards the balance (this is not new). However, in the LIKELY event of a government shutdown, your refund or payment towards balance owed may not be processed until after the reopening of the government.
That being said, file now! Don’t wait.
