From October 15 through December 7, Medicare beneficiaries can make certain changes to their health and prescription drug coverage. Changes made during AEP generally take effect January 1 of the following year.

Here’s what you can do during AEP:

✅ Switch from one Medicare Advantage plan to another
✅ Join or drop a Medicare Advantage plan
✅ Add or drop prescription drug coverage when eligible
✅ Switch from Original Medicare to Medicare Advantage
✅ Switch from Medicare Advantage back to Original Medicare
✅ If you have Original Medicare, join, drop, or switch Medicare drug plans

But how do you choose the right option?

Don't look at the monthly premium alone. Review:

🔹 Your doctors and specialists
🔹 Your prescriptions and pharmacies
🔹 Premiums, deductibles, copays, and other costs

You don't have to wait until October 15 to start preparing.

Here’s what you can do NOW:

🔹 Check your doctors — Make sure your preferred doctors and specialists are still part of the plan's network if applicable.
🔹 Review your prescriptions — Make a current list of your medications and check your drug coverage.
🔹 Check your pharmacy — Your preferred pharmacy can affect what you pay for prescriptions.
🔹 Look at your plan changes — Medicare advises reviewing your coverage and comparing your current plan with available options for the upcoming year.
🔹 Write down your questions — Having your questions ready can make the review process much easier.
