A little light reading for you about the cut the federal reserve made today. If you've been holding off on buying a home or re-financing, now's definitely a good time to buy and depending on your situation might be a good time to refinance as well.

You may see people posting stuff or saying the feds cut the federal funds rate by 50 bps or basis points. 100 bps equals 1% so essentially the federal funds rate dropped by 1/2%. The federal fund rate is the interest rate that banks pay one another to borrow or loan money overnight.

The Fed reduced its key interest rate by a relatively large half percentage point. Futures markets expected a big cut amid a slowing labor market.

Are you a veteran or service member that has used your VA loan over the last couple years. You may have locked in at a high 6% or somewhere in the range of 7 or 8%. Good news, ok that sounds a little tooooo much like a car salesman. But on a serious note the rates have been coming down and if you do have a higher interest VA loan you have the option to utilize the VA IRRRL or Interest Rate Reduction Refinance Loan. You will still have closing costs but they can be rolled into the new loan. Some of the highlights are listed below in the flyer one big one being no appraisal required.
