Winter Weather Preparedness Tips:
Exterior Maintenance
Remind customers to maintain the exterior of their homes by sealing drafts around windows and doors, clearing gutters, repairing damaged shingles, and insulating outdoor faucets and exposed pipes.
Interior Preparation
Encourage an HVAC inspection, regular air filter changes, and insulating pipes in unheated areas like garages and attics.
Safety Plan
Advise customers to create a safety plan before severe weather strikes. This should include a written emergency contact list, designating a family meeting point, and ensuring vehicles are ready with proper fluid levels and tire pressure. Customers should also have an emergency kit in their home and car with blankets, water, non-perishable food, a flashlight, batteries, and a portable power bank.
Home Coverage
Encourage customers to contact you if they’re uncertain about their current limits, to identify any gaps, and to discuss optional coverages:
Service Line Coverage: Covers repairs to underground utility lines.
Home Systems Protection: Added protection for critical home systems, electronics, and major appliances.
