Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet would like to remind residents that a mandatory parish wide curfew remains in effect until further notice. Authorities are working to assess and clear roadways of debris and powerlines but travel still remains a dangerous situation for motorists. The Sheriff's Office plans to lift the curfew once the roadways are deemed safe for travel, and this can be completed at a much faster rate with residents adhering to the curfew and staying off of roadways.

The curfew will continue to be strictly enforced for the safety of our residents. Sheriff Soignet urges everyone to remain sheltered in place, and to abide by the active curfew.

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office is continuing to work on storm damage assessments south of the Morganza levee system. Drone teams will be utilized to assist with damage assessments south of the Morganza, as well as throughout Terrebonne Parish as the day progresses.

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office remains available to respond to calls for service as needed.

Terrebonne Parish's new flood maps memo:

New flood maps have been finalized and will become effective on September 7, 2023, for Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana. Residents are encouraged to examine the new maps to determine if they are in a low-to-moderate or high-risk flood zone. The new flood maps can be viewed at www.lsuagcenter.com or https://msc.fema.gov/fmcv . We listed a few important facts to help address some concerns.
• The new maps do not affect everyone.
• The flood premiums have been calculated in the Risk 2.0 system to accommodate the new maps.
• Flood insurance is Federal Government regulated; the premium should be the same across the board with any insurance company.
• There will be a 30-day waiting period from the date of purchase for all new flood policies, not including new home loans.
• New flood policies must be paid for in full.
• Please wait to receive a letter from your mortgage company stating their requirements before purchasing a flood policy.
• Everyone’s situation and premiums will be different, coverage amounts, deductibles, due dates, etc.
• Mortgage companies can force-place / lender-place flood insurance if they deem flood insurance mandatory. These policies are typically more expensive and have limited coverage.
• Note, not all information on social media is accurate, so be mindful of conflicting posts. We highly suggest contacting your insurance agent to address your concerns.

We understand the severity of concern and will do our best to help you navigate through these hardships with insurance in Terrebonne Parish. Please contact our office with any questions.
