Marketing - this is how it basically works. When you watch or hear a commercial, they have DESIGNED it to make you FEEL like you have to have their product. It is trying to send you a message to make you lose contentment. THIS IS INTENTIONAL ON THEIR PART. They have entire departments of people who went to school to learn how to, and whose very jobs are, dedicated to try to make you feel discontent. Nothing to be freaked out about, but just to be aware of and remember when you hear or see one… which is constantly… especially with the holiday season coming up.

I've got a question for you. Is it just me or have you ever asked yourself why am I not further along in life financially? I thought by now I would have ___ dollars or be able to do this or that by now! What am I doing wrong? Yup. Me too. I've been there myself and still have those thoughts periodically. Sometimes it takes an outside perspective to look into a situation and help to determine whether it is something we're doing, something we're not doing, an unrealistic expectation, or some combination of them.

Is it just me, or does it seem like the price of a few things are going up?? 😁😁
Exactly how mad does it make you? 😠😤
I know if I dwell on it, it can really get to me. It's times like this that budgeting is all the more important. Need help with that? That's what I do. Budgeting is not that difficult to do, it's just difficult to live out. Sometimes an outside perspective is needed.

Debt is the biggest thing sold. Don't believe me? How many credit card offers have you received in the last few weeks? Believe me, you are not the only one. The paradigm in our culture is that it is normal and smart when it is actually bo***ge. They make money when you spend using their product. Nothing to be freaked out about, but just to be aware of.

Debt is not a blessing! Your credit score is not an indicator of your financial well being! It can very well be indicating the opposite.

You don't have to live like this. No matter who you are or what you're situation, you CAN win with money!

Credit card points is like the grownup version of going to an arcade or carnival. You spend a bunch of money, get a buttload of points or tickets, and only get a cheap trinket for all you did, when you could have spent much less to get the trinket directly. It's a game invented by credit card companies. They will always win. They know that because of this game that they created people will spend more … to get the points … to get the cheap trinket. Don't be fooled. They didn't put the game in place for them to lose.

Diligent patience and persistence gives you options. Especially in savings. Simple example: saving for buying a car. If you save monthly for a car, but aren't diligent/patient/persistent/consistent, you WILL have less money when it comes time to buy one, and that will limit your options of what you can afford.
Take out "car" in the above example and put in just about anything else. If you haven't been diligent in saving for college, options are fewer. If you haven't been diligent in saving for vacation, your options of destinations is more limited. And on and on and on…

Something disturbing I read this week.

With mortgage rates rising, people are increasingly opting for the lower ARM rate. The problem is with the letter A in the acronym - Adjustable. If rates are going up, that fixed rate that a homebuyer thought was too high may eventually look great once that adjustable rate passes it up. If you are buying a house or refinancing, although an ARM is hardly ever a good idea, in an environment where rates are on the rise, it is the worst time to get an adjustable rate.
