Today is more than the start of summer.

It is the day we stop and remember the men and women who gave everything so that we could have the life we take for granted on ordinary Mondays.

The ones who left their families behind. The ones who never made it home. The ones whose names are on walls and headstones and in the memories of people who still feel the weight of that loss decades later.

Freedom is not abstract. It has faces. It has names. It has families who set a place at the table that never gets filled again.

If you have someone to remember today, take a moment to do that. Not just at the cookout or the parade but in a quiet moment where you can actually sit with what their sacrifice meant.

And if you come from a military family or you served yourself, thank you. Not just today but always.

From my family to yours, have a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

I want to share a quick story from a recent conversation I had…

A client's friend reached out just wanting a second opinion on her Medicare plan. She wasn’t unhappy—she just felt like something might be off.

When we reviewed her coverage, we found that two of her doctors were out of network, her medications had moved to higher tiers, and she had been paying more than she needed to—without realizing it.

There was actually another plan available that covered all of her doctors, lowered her prescription costs, and even had a lower premium.

The difference? About $180 a month.

She looked at me and said, “I just assumed someone would’ve told me if something better was available.”

That right there is why I do what I do.

Medicare plans change. Your needs change. And the plan you chose a few years ago might not be the best fit today.

When is the last time someone reviewed your coverage with fresh eyes?

Send me a message—this review is no-cost and could make a bigger difference than you think.

Most people set up their ACA plan in November and forget about it.

That is exactly how they end up owing money at tax time.

Here is what nobody explains clearly enough:

👉 Your monthly premium subsidy is based on your estimated income for the year. If your income went up — new job, raise, side income, spouse went back to work — and you did not report it, the IRS will collect the difference when you file.

That surprise bill is not a glitch. It is the system working exactly as designed.

Spring is the right time to log back in and update your income estimate. Takes less than 10 minutes. Could save you hundreds.

Not sure what numbers to use or how to update it? That is what I am here for.

I want to talk about something that gives a lot of people a false sense of security.

Group life insurance through your employer.

First let me be clear. It is a benefit worth having. If your employer offers it you should absolutely enroll. Free or heavily subsidized life insurance coverage is not something to turn down.

But here is where it gets dangerous.

A lot of people enroll in their employer group life plan and mentally check the life insurance box forever. Done. Covered. Moving on.

And that is the part that keeps me up at night.

Because group life insurance through work has some significant limitations that most employees never read in the fine print.

It is not portable. The day you leave that job whether you quit, get laid off, or retire that coverage ends. It does not come with you. And if your health has changed since you first enrolled getting a new individual policy may be harder or more expensive than it would have been years earlier.

The coverage amount is often not enough. Most employer plans offer one or two times your annual salary. Financial planners generally recommend ten to twelve times. That gap is enormous if something happens.

You do not control it. Your employer can change the plan, reduce the benefit, or switch carriers at any time. You would find out in an open enrollment email.

Group life is a starting point. Not a finish line.

If it is the only coverage you have send me a message and let's talk about what a personal policy would actually cost you. The number is almost always more manageable than people expect.

It's Tax Day.

Nobody's favorite day. But hear me out.

If you just filed your taxes you now have the most accurate picture of your income you are going to have all year. You know exactly what came in. What went out. What changed.

And that makes today genuinely one of the best days of the year to look at your health insurance.

Here is why that matters.

Your ACA subsidy is based on your estimated income. If what you just filed looks different from what you estimated back in November there may be a mismatch sitting in your plan right now.

Too high and you could owe money back next April.

Too low and you may be leaving premium credits on the table every single month.

Either way today is the day you actually have the number in front of you.

If you filed your taxes this week and want a quick gut check on your health plan send me a message today while the numbers are still fresh.

Happy Tax Day. Go treat yourself to something after this.

Nobody thinks about health insurance… until they have to.

And by then, it’s usually during one of the most stressful moments in their life.

That’s really how this became more than just a career for me.

I didn’t grow up planning to be in this industry, but I quickly realized how many people feel overwhelmed, confused, or even overlooked when it comes to their coverage. I’ve sat with clients who just needed someone to slow things down, explain their options, and help them feel confident in their decisions.

The moment it really hit me was realizing that what I do isn’t about plans—it’s about people. It’s about making sure someone doesn’t face a tough situation without the right protection in place.

Health insurance isn’t just a policy to me. It’s peace of mind. It’s protection. It’s knowing that when life happens, you’re not navigating it alone.

That’s why I show up every day and why I truly care about helping my clients find the right coverage for their needs.

If you’ve ever felt confused, overwhelmed, or unsure about your options—you’re exactly who I’m here for.

Here is something most people do not know about their life insurance policy.

Your beneficiary designation overrides your will.

Read that again.

It does not matter what your will says. It does not matter what your wishes are. It does not matter what conversations you had with your family. Whoever is listed as beneficiary on your policy is who gets the money. Full stop.

Which sounds fine until you think about how much life can change between when you first signed up for that policy and right now.

Divorces happen. And in many states an ex-spouse can still collect a life insurance benefit if nobody remembered to update the paperwork.

People pass away. If your listed beneficiary died before you and you never updated the policy your benefit could end up in probate. Which means lawyers, courts, and months or years of delays for your family.

Kids grow up. A beneficiary listed as a minor cannot legally receive a life insurance payout directly. The court appoints a guardian to manage it. That is not always the person you would have chosen.

New family members arrive. A new spouse. A new child. A grandchild you want to provide for. None of them are automatically included.

I have seen this play out in real families and it is heartbreaking every single time. Not because anyone did anything wrong. Just because nobody thought to make a phone call. This is the update that takes about five minutes and most people have not done it since the day they signed up.

When is the last time you looked at your beneficiary designations?

Not your policy. Your beneficiaries specifically.

If you can't remember it has been too long.
