Throughout the month of February, WCASHRM is proud to introduce our 2026 Board of Directors. These outstanding individuals are volunteer leaders who generously commit their time and energy to leading and serving our chapter. Thank you for all that you do!
Deanna Harris, Vice President of Membership
Deanna L. Harris, SHRM-CP, FLMI, CPC, serves as the Vice President, HR and Payroll Coordinator for Selected Funeral and Life Insurance. She has worked for SFLIC for 22 years. Deanna is a graduate of Northern Arizona University (NAU) where she majored in sociology and psychology. Deanna has earned multiple life insurance industry certifications through the Life Office Management Association (LOMA), most prominently the Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI). She holds the HR certification of the Society for Human Resource Management, Certified Professional (SHRM-CP). She earned the Certified Preplanning Consultant (CPC) designation through the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) program.
Deanna is a long-time SHRM volunteer, having served on the West Central Arkansas Society for Human Resources (WCASHRM) board since 2010. She served 2 years as Chapter President (2015-2016) and has been on the committee for WCASHRM’s Managers Seminar, attended annually by managers and supervisors from businesses and organizations across Arkansas, since 2006.
When Deanna is not working, she enjoys time on the lake with her family (Summer), hiking (Fall), line dancing, roller skating, working out, and playing bunco with an amazing group of friends. Her favorite title these days is “Gigi,” and she loves making memories with her precious grandbabies.
When asked why she said yes to being a volunteer leader, Deanna advised that she was initially recruited to help on the Managers Seminar committee by her own HR Director, and the following year she was recruited to join the WCASHRM Board. Despite being recruited to volunteer, she counts the volunteer work as a very rewarding experience. She has had the pleasure of working with amazing HR professionals who became cherished mentors. Shayne King is one of those mentors.
For 2026, Deanna is excited that we have so many new board members this year. She advised that because we are such a small board, recruiting new members to serve has been challenging over the years. Deanna is looking forward to working with the new board, all of whom have brought some fresh ideas. Deanna noted that work-life balance can be hard, but being a volunteer at WCASHRM is so rewarding. Deanna hopes we are able to get more chapter members involved this year and going forward. The Managers Seminar committee is a great way to get your feet wet. Come join the fun!
