🏡 Home Inspection vs. Insurance Inspection — Not the Same Thing!
If you’re buying a home, you’ll likely hear about both a home inspection and an insurance inspection… and it’s easy to assume they’re the same but they are not.
Here’s a simple breakdown 👇
🔍 Home Inspection (for YOU)
This helps you understand the condition of the home before you buy. It looks at things like the roof, structure, systems, and overall maintenance.
👉 Think: “Is this a good home to purchase?”
🛡️ Insurance Inspection (for the carrier)
This happens after you apply for insurance and focuses on risk—things like roof condition, wiring, plumbing, and potential liability concerns.
👉 Think: “Is this a home the insurance company wants to cover?”
A home can pass inspection for purchase but still raise concerns for insurance—especially when it comes to roofs, updates, or maintenance.
If you’re house hunting, I’m always happy to help you understand what to expect on the insurance side so there are no surprises.
