If you have both Medicare and Medicaid, you may be leaving benefits on the table.

There is a type of Medicare Advantage plan built specifically for people who qualify for both. It is called a Dual Special Needs Plan.

These plans coordinate your Medicare and Medicaid benefits into one place. Many include things Original Medicare does not cover, like dental, vision, hearing, transportation to appointments, and an over the counter allowance.

Here is the part most people miss: you do not have to wait for fall enrollment. If you have full Medicaid, you can join or switch once every calendar month, all year round.

There is a new limit on what you pay for prescriptions this year, and a lot of people have not heard about it.

Starting in 2026, your out of pocket prescription drug costs under Medicare Part D are capped at $2,100 for the year. Once you hit that, you pay nothing more for covered drugs for the rest of the year.

That cap did not exist before. If your medications are expensive, this is the kind of change that shows up on your pharmacy receipt.

Insulin is separate and also capped, at $35 a month per covered product.

Nevada neighbors, here's a Medicare benefit worth knowing in 2026.

Many recommended vaccines are now $0 under Medicare drug coverage. That includes the shingles shot, which used to cost some people well over $100.

Shingles, Tdap, and other recommended vaccines, covered, with no copay on most Part D and Medicare Advantage plans.

Turning 65 but still working? You may not need to rush into Part B.

Here's what a lot of people don't realize. If you have health coverage through your job or your spouse's job, you might be able to delay Part B without a late penalty.

But the rules depend on your employer's size and your type of coverage. Guess wrong, and that penalty can follow you for life.
