Hawaii speaks more than nine languages at home. Your Medicare agent should speak yours.

Our team includes agents who speak Hawaiian, Tagalog, Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, Ilocano, Portuguese, and Spanish. Plus English, of course.

For a lot of our kupuna, Medicare in your second language is a different experience than Medicare in your first. The questions are different. The worries are different. The trust is different.

We meet you in the language that feels like home.

What language do you most want Medicare explained in? For yourself or for someone in your family?

Your local agent is just a call away. Reach our team at (808) 792-5194 or visit fbihi.com.

What does a day actually look like for one of our Medicare agents in Hawaii?

It usually starts before the office opens. A phone call from a client whose pharmacy didn't fill her prescription. An email from a family asking about a parent who just turned 64. A drive to a kitchen table somewhere, Mililani, Kaneohe, Hilo, Lihue.

Most days, our agents have more conversations in cars, kitchens, and community centers than in our office.

That's the part of this job we love most.

When you met your Medicare advisor, where did the meeting actually happen? Office, phone, or kitchen?

If your monthly budget is tight, your prescription bill might be costing you more than it has to.

There's a Medicare program called Extra Help, also known as the Low-Income Subsidy. It pays for some of your Part D prescription drug costs.

In 2026, if you qualify, you'll pay no more than $5.10 for most generic drugs and $12.65 for most brand-name drugs. That's per prescription.

Many of our Hawaii clients qualify and never know it. The income and resource limits are higher than most people assume, especially for couples and households in Hawaii.

Did you know Extra Help existed? Be honest, no judgment in this thread.

Today we honor the Hawaii service members who didn't come home, and the families who carry their memory.

For veterans who did come home, Medicare often layers on top of VA or Tricare benefits. The combination can mean broader coverage, but it can also mean more paperwork, more questions, more decisions about which plan covers what.

If you're a veteran or a veteran's spouse working through Medicare, you've earned someone in your corner who understands how these benefits fit together.

Today is for remembrance. The rest of the year, we're here for the questions.

Are you a veteran navigating Medicare alongside VA or Tricare? Tell us where you're stuck.

Some Medicare conversations don't happen on Zoom or at an office. They happen at someone's kitchen table on the Big Island, with coffee, with family in the next room.

That's where you'll find our agent Jessie Grace.

Jessie has built her practice on showing up. Home visits, follow-up calls, plan reviews when something changes. The kind of relationship that lasts beyond enrollment day.

She's the agent the family calls back, year after year.

Have you worked with Jessie? Share a memory below.

"Jessie made the drive to my home in Kohala, explained Medicare and my options. She answered all my questions with aloha, very patient and caring."

That's how one of our Big Island clients described working with our agent Jessie Grace.

A lot of Medicare conversations happen at kitchen tables, not offices. Especially on the neighbor islands. When getting to a meeting is hard, our agents come to you.

It's not a service we advertise. It's just how we do this.

Has a Medicare agent ever come to you when getting to them was hard?

Individual experiences may vary. Benefits depend on your specific plan and location.

Turning 65 in Hawaii this year? Your Medicare enrollment window may already be open.

Most people think Medicare starts on your 65th birthday. Actually, it starts three months before. Your Initial Enrollment Period is a seven-month window, the three months before your birthday month, the birthday month itself, and the three months after.

Signing up early matters. If you miss this window, you may face a penalty that follows you for the rest of your time on Medicare.

The good news, you don't have to figure out the timing alone.

Are you, or someone you love, turning 65 this year? Tag them so they don't miss the window.

MJ Kim helps Hawaii's Korean community work through Medicare in Korean or English, whichever feels more natural for you and your family.

She covers plan comparison, prescription drug coverage, dental and vision benefits, and the questions most people don't think to ask, like what happens to your plan when you travel back to Korea or to the mainland.

For our Korean kupuna, having an agent who speaks the language means the conversation starts with confidence, not confusion.

Who in your family wishes they had a Medicare advisor who spoke their first language?
