This is a 50 year chart of average annual interest rates of a conventional, conforming 30-year, fixed-rate mortgage using data I compiled from . You can see for yourself that we are still near historical all-time lows. Don’t fool yourself into thinking that 3% rates are normal just because we had a (hopefully) once-in-a-lifetime pandemic that caused rates to drop to their lowest in history. Please share this with someone who is freaking out about current interest rates.
