Sabal Rice and Noodles is a hidden gem specializing in customizable build-your-own bowls with Japan-Korean fusion flavors. A client of agent Karen Dodo, Sabal Rice and Noodles is owned and operated by Bongjun “Jun” Kim.

Located on the ground floor of T**a Tower on Bishop Street in Downtown Honolulu, everything is fresh, balanced, and carefully prepared — simple food made with genuine care at an affordable price.

Ordering is simple:
• Choose your base: Rice, noodles, or greens
• Pick your protein: Braised pork shoulder, boneless chicken thigh, or seasoned tofu
• Add your sauce: Spicy garlic chili oil, garlic shoyu oil, Korean spicy sauce, or SSAM Sauce (Korean miso-based)

We got a little of each and sat down to taste:
• Pork with Spicy Chili Oil and noodles
• Chicken with Spicy Chili Oil and rice
• Salad with tofu and SSAM Sauce

We also tried Pork Wontons with Spicy Chili Oil — homemade pork wontons made to order and topped with Jun’s spicy chili oil.

O’Kim’s, a client of agent Saejin Choi, is located on Nuuanu Avenue near the corner of King Street in Chinatown. We parked in the nearby parking garage and headed over for an early dinner.

Koi greeted us with a smile as we said hello to Chef Kim and Sean. Comfortably seated in their outdoor dining area, it was hard to believe we were in the midst of downtown Honolulu. Mahalo to Koi for the recommendations!

Truffle Mandoo - Four different types of mushrooms, zucchini, mushroom paste, takuan, and soy sauce jelly.

Seaweed Salmon - Slightly poached salmon topped with panko and seaweed powder, served with Korean remoulade, tosazu gelee, pickled tomato, purple rice, green salad, and kimchi.

We also had the chance to sample their deep-fried asparagus and Basque cheesecake. By the end of the meal, we were already talking about what we want to try next time.

When it came to trying our first seafood boil, we knew it had to be Da Crawfish and Crabshack, a client of agent Melissa Cruz.

Located in the Kapolei Shopping Center behind Juliez Restaurant, there’s ample parking right out front.

Da Crawfish and Crabshack offers a spacious and family friendly atmosphere. Their menu has a variety of seafood options, but we knew what we wanted. Pulling up our sleeves at Da Crawfish and Crabshack, we were provided with all the tools we needed to dig in.

Combo #1 with Garlic Butter sauce! Clams, shrimp, crawfish, snow crab legs, steamed potatoes, sausage, and corn on the cob—definitely a hearty spread. We enjoyed a satisfying lunch with enough leftovers for another meal.
If you’re looking for a great deal, check out their $9.99 lunch specials. At the suggestion of Chey, we also ordered the hamburger steak plate to go—generous portions at a great value.

Located in the Pearl Kai Shopping Center, we stopped by for some quick fun and ended up catching a serious case of claw fever!

Walking down the aisles, there were so many plushes and collectibles, all waiting for someone to take them home.

All those cute little faces looking back at us, how could we resist?

Downtown Coffee is an independent coffee roaster and coffeehouse specializing in coffee grown right here in Hawaii and freshly roasted on site every week. Located on the ground floor of Pioneer Plaza on Fort Street Mall in the heart of downtown, it is a client of agent Miles Moriyama.

They serve 100% Hawaii coffee and 100% Hawaii espresso, along with matcha sourced from Japan, matcha tortes, and homemade pastries.

We stopped by to meet Fred, owner of Downtown Coffee, and Jon, and were immediately greeted by the unmistakable aroma of freshly roasted coffee.

Their 100% Kona Coffee Latte was so good and incredibly smooth that we didn’t need sweetener. Wait a latte! Who could forget their iced matcha latte! Their muesli with cold milk…simple and satisfying.

After a satisfying break, we were on our way with a wave and a smile!

Mahalo Fred, Jon, and the Downtown Coffee ohana for supporting Hawaii’s coffee industry and sharing your passion with the community.
