BIG NEWS BLAIR COUNTY!
Union Pacific’s legendary Big Boy No. 4014 — the world’s largest operating steam locomotive is expected to make a historic stop in Altoona July 8–11 during its first-ever East Coast tour.
This once-in-a-lifetime event will bring thousands of visitors to our region as Big Boy journeys through Blair County and ascends the iconic Horseshoe Curve.
“To see Big Boy No. 4014 come through Altoona and traverse the Horseshoe Curve is something no one has ever experienced before,” said Joe DeFrancesco, Executive Director of the Railroaders Memorial Museum & Horseshoe Curve National Historic Landmark. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness two of the greatest engineering achievements in American railroad history come together in one unforgettable moment.”
