I’m beyond honored to congratulate my boss, business partner, mentor but most importantly one of my best friends on the planet for winning The Saint Clare’s Health William P. Huber Award for Outstanding Community Leadership. I could talk to you about her success as a business owner, her success in raising 4 phenomenal children or how she’s raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for many different charities. Or I could talk to you about my friend who from the moment I met her and Dave, I was treated like family, the person who not only takes the time to benefit the community but takes the time to mentor younger advisors and makes sure they succeed in their careers, the same woman that knew my family lived on the other side of the country and would invite me to her house for dinner multiple times a week. Her leadership is not only philanthropical but also personal. Christine thank you so much for your trust, your guidance but most importantly thank you for your friendship. Keep the trophy shelf empty,there’s so many more awards to come!

5 years ago today I walked into my first day in the insurance/finance industry with an $80 suit on and a headshot I got using a Groupon. And what a journey it’s been.

While the first two years of my career were forgettable and I did learn some very basic things, The Fortis Agency was where I was able to learn revolutionary financial planning techniques through some of the best advisors this industry has to offer.

Not only has this career changed my life but along the way has created lifelong friendships that I will always cherish.

So to keep a long story short I just want to say if you have supported me in any way these last 5 years thank you from the bottom of my heart and if you haven’t you can start now.

Once you have a kid, it's really important to handle a few key things:

- Sort out your Estate Planning Documents: Get your will/trust and other legal documents sorted. Make sure you decide who will raise your children and who handles medical and financial decisions if you're not around.

- Boost your Life Insurance: Get a solid life insurance policy to protect your family if you're not there.

- Expand your Emergency Fund: Ramp up your savings to cover those surprise costs and have a safety net for your expanding family. Kids definitely mean more expenses.

- Kick off a College Fund/Nest Egg: College isn't cheap and neither is starting a business, whatever path they want to take after they graduate HS, The earlier you start saving, the better!
