Medicare reassigned ~1.3 million patient IDs—and they’re already active.

If your team is still using what’s in the EHR, claims may be getting denied without anyone realizing why.

Quick fix: start verifying Medicare cards at check-in and flag MBI mismatches before claims go out.

Simple workflow shift. Big revenue impact.

Messy billing is about to cost more.

CMS is continuing the shift toward performance-based reimbursement—especially in behavioral health.

You don’t need to master every detail of the ACCESS model, but you do need to understand what it signals:

👉 Revenue is more tied to performance and accountability
👉 Some payments depend on outcomes being met
👉 Operational gaps will show up faster—and cost more

What that looks like in real life:

• Sloppy billing = lost revenue
• Weak documentation = audit risk
• Inefficient workflows = cash flow issues

Clinical outcomes may be measured by providers, but whether you actually get paid still depends on your revenue cycle foundation.

That’s where we live.

At Sensibill, we help practices build clean, consistent billing and documentation processes that hold up as requirements evolve.

Because when reimbursement gets more complex, your operations can’t afford to be messy.

Starting July 1, 2026, BCBS Illinois and Texas are increasing scrutiny on E&M services for commercial plans.

If documentation doesn’t support the level billed, reimbursement may be reduced.

Not denied. Reduced.

Clear, complete, defensible documentation matters more than ever.

Most therapists don’t struggle with motivation. They struggle with administrative drag.

Checking one claim turns into:
• clearinghouse
• payment reports
• spreadsheets
• bank deposits
• and numbers that don’t match

Billing isn’t “just submitting claims.” It’s reconciliation.

And it’s a full job.

This is Therapist Reality. 😵‍💫

Gratitude has been a big theme around here lately, and our clients top that list every time. Their missions and the lives they change daily never stop amazing us.

Today, we’re especially grateful for and CEO Amy Grulke, who leads a pediatric therapy practice providing speech, PT, OT, and feeding therapy. Through their work, families are supported and children are given the tools to thrive and reach their fullest potential.

This is work that makes a real difference—and we’re honored to support it.

Therapists in Arizona say new insurance rules may force them to stop accepting Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona.

Not because they want to—but because the guidelines add heavy supervision and admin requirements that many practices simply can’t sustain.

The fallout?
• Longer waitlists
• Fewer in-network therapists
• Interrupted mental health care

When policy doesn’t match real-world care, patients pay the price.

🧠💬 Mental health access shouldn’t be this fragile.

Our Louisiana team 🤍

We work virtually, but the relationships are very real. It’s rare to find a team that shows up for each other, laughs together, supports each other, and actually enjoys being together—especially when we’re spread across miles and screens.

So grateful for this crew and the culture we’ve built. Proof that connection isn’t about proximity—it’s about people.

👉 Here’s how to get ahead in 2026:
✅ Reverify every client’s benefits (plans change Jan 1!)
✅ Update authorizations + check session limits
✅ Prepare for deductible resets (aka slow payments)
✅ Watch for new CPT code or modifier updates

💬 And if this all makes your head spin?
We can help get your practice ahead of the mess — not buried in it.

📩 DM us to get on our January support list.
Because starting the year with claim chaos is soooo 2025. 😏

🚨 Aetna Inpatient Payment Policy Update

Aetna has updated its Level of Severity Inpatient Payment Policy — here’s what you need to know 👇

📅 New effective date: January 1, 2026 (previously November 15, 2025)

🏥 Applies to: Urgent/emergent inpatient stays
• 1–4 midnights: Subject to level of severity review
• Providers can request a severity review if MCG criteria aren’t met
• 5+ midnights: Automatically paid at the inpatient DRG rate (no severity review needed)

💡 What stays the same:
• Members still receive inpatient approval and post-discharge benefits.
• Goal = faster payments, fewer admin hurdles, and smoother care.

✨ Aetna says this change supports simpler, faster reimbursement and less back-and-forth — helping providers focus on what matters most: patient care.
