Many factors can influence healthy aging. While some of these factors, such as genetics, are not within our control, research shows there are steps you can take to help manage your health as you age. Small lifestyle changes can help you live longer and feel better. Start with these tips:

• Get moving: Try gardening, walking, or biking.
• Choose healthy, nutrient-rich foods.
• Manage stress: Practice yoga or keep a journal.
• Learn something new: Take a class or join a club.
• Visit your doctor regularly.
• Stay connected with family and friends.

Make giving back your New Year's resolution. You can help end hunger in the Ozarks by sorting donated product, packing Weekend Backpacks and Senior Boxes, and planting and harvesting produce with Full Circle Gardens. Just one hour of volunteering with Ozarks Food Harvest provides more than 100 meals for families experiencing food insecurity.

Medicare is not laminating Medicare cards. There are reports of a lot of calls about new Medicare cards, laminated cards, or replacement cards being sent. These are not calls from Medicare. These are scam attempts to get your Medicare information.

Please report these calls to the SMP at smpresource.org/reportfraud.

Join empower: abilities in showing our appreciation to Senator Schmitt and Senator Ossoffs for their efforts on the new Bipartisan Think Differently Database Act Signed into Law over the weekend.

The Think Differently Database Act directs the Secretary of Health & Human Services to create an easy-to-access website that includes:

- Federal and state resources available for those with intellectual disabilities.
- Resources that connect individuals, families, and caregivers with healthcare, mental health, and other community-based services within state Medicaid programs.
- A zip code feature that helps individuals locate resources in their community.

The Think Differently Database Act marks the second stand-alone piece of legislation that Senator Schmitt introduced that’s been signed into law. Senator Schmitt has made fighting for individuals with disabilities a top priority of his Senate tenure, and has introduced multiple pieces of legislation that aim to improve the lives of those with disabilities. That includes the Think Differently Database Act, as well as the ENABLE Act, which recently passed the Senate.
