Changed jobs recently? Your old 401(k) doesn't have to stay out of sight, out of mind.

There are several options for what to do with an old retirement account, and the right choice depends on your individual situation, goals, fees, and investment options.

Not sure what makes the most sense for you? I'm always happy to help you understand your options!

Financial planning doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes it's really just about figuring out where you want to go and making sure your money is helping you get there.

Whether that's buying a home, retiring someday, traveling more, or just feeling a little more confident with your finances, having a plan makes a difference.

A little direction can go a long way!

A few months ago I met the team at DISHER while volunteering in Holland, and they were kind enough to invite me to grab dinner afterward.

Today I stopped by with some homemade brown butter pumpkin chocolate chip cookies to say thanks. 🍪

One of my favorite parts of growing my business is building genuine relationships with great people in our community. Looking forward to many more connections along the way!

We often think wealth is all about growing our accounts, but most of us aren't investing just to see a bigger number on a statement.

We're investing for mornings that aren't rushed, weekends with family, vacations we don't have to stress about, and the freedom to make choices based on what matters most.

Financial planning isn't about money just for money's sake, it's about creating a life you enjoy.

Wondering where your extra cash should go first?

The answer depends on your financial foundation. Before investing every extra dollar, ask yourself these questions:

✔️ Do I have an emergency fund?
✔️ Am I carrying high-interest debt?
✔️ Am I taking full advantage of my employer's retirement match (if available)?
✔️ Do I have any short-term goals I'll need this money for?

Once those priorities are addressed, investing for your long-term goals may make sense.

There isn't a one-size-fits-all answer, but having a plan can help ensure every dollar is working toward your goals.

When people hear "financial planning," they often think it's just about investing.

In reality, investing is only one part of the picture.

A strong financial plan starts by protecting what you've built, continues by growing your wealth over time, and ultimately focuses on preserving it through thoughtful tax and estate planning.

Everyone's journey is different, but having a plan can help you make more confident financial decisions along the way.

Small wording differences in beneficiary designations can create very different outcomes for future generations.

"Per Stirpes" and "Per Capita" are two common ways assets may be distributed, but many people don't realize how differently they work until it's too late.

It's a good reminder to periodically review:
• Retirement accounts
• Life insurance policies
• Transfer on death accounts
• Estate documents

Especially after major life events like marriage, divorce, births, or deaths in the family.

A quick review today can help ensure your wishes are carried out the way you intended.

What is an HSA?

A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a tax-advantaged savings account designed for individuals enrolled in a qualified High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). It can be used to pay for eligible medical expenses both now and in the future.

One of the biggest advantages of an HSA is its triple tax benefit:

1. Contributions may be tax-deductible
2. Investments grow tax-deferred
3. Withdrawals for qualified medical expenses are tax-free

Unlike an FSA, HSA funds roll over year after year and remain yours even if you change employers or retire. Many people use HSAs not only for current healthcare expenses, but also as a long-term savings and investment tool.

Who may be eligible?
Generally, you must:
• Be enrolled in a qualified High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)
• Have no other disqualifying health coverage
• Not be enrolled in Medicare
• Not be claimed as a dependent on someone else's tax return

If you have questions about HSAs or how they may fit into your financial plan, feel free to reach out!
