Insurance terms can sometimes sound more complicated than they need to be. So today, let’s break down the difference between **Replacement Cost** and **Actual Cash Value** with a simple example.

📺 **Imagine your 5-year-old TV is damaged in a covered loss.**

➡️ **Replacement Cost** coverage generally looks at what it would cost to replace that TV today with a new one of similar kind and quality.

➡️ **Actual Cash Value** generally takes depreciation into account. In other words, it considers what your 5-year-old TV was worth at the time of the loss—not necessarily what a brand-new replacement costs.
