On July 20, 1919, twenty eight local men and women invested $15,000 to charter the Bank of Magnolia. On September 29, 1919, the bank opened for business in a new 500 square foot building in the center of Magnolia, KY. In 1980, the Board received regulatory approval to establish a banking office in Hodgenville, the county seat of LaRue Co. The following year, on February 2, the bank opened it's first branch in Hodgenville. The second branch in Hodgenville was added in 1996, with the purchase of a Fifth Third office located on North Lincoln Boulevard. This branch was later moved to a new location, the Parkway Plaza branch. In February 2004, the bank expanded into Hardin County, with the opening of the Elizabethtown branch. The bank then changed it's name to Magnolia Bank. The change honors the Bank's past, but also reflects the Bank's progressive philosophy of serving new markets.
