Sad about the loss of a good friend and customer. Darrell has been an insured since I first started in crop insurance 25 years ago, but was a neighbor and friend before that. I learned a lot listening to Darrell’s quiet wisdom and livestock, crops, & the markets. He loved his family and his farm as much as anyone I know. Sure going to miss him. Please keep his family in your prayers, especially Dana Stearman Sprowles.

Darrell Sprowles, age 67, of Upton, passed away, Saturday, June 20, 2026, on his farm.

He loved farming and was a farmer for over 50 years, 41 of those years as a dairy farmer.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, James Garland Sprowles and Irma Jean Edlin Sprowles and a sister, Barbara Farkas.

He is survived by his wife, Dana Stearman Sprowles; a daughter, Tara (John) Dixon of Hodgenville; a grandson, Heath Thompson; a great-grandson, Oakley Thompson and a special friend, Robert Perkins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Danny Rock and J. T. Sutherland officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The family request you please dress casual for visitation and funeral service..

Darrell’s pallbearers will include: John Dixon, Heath Thompson, Roger Ovesen, Rob Ovesen, Mike Lind and Chris Shive. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Rock and Rick Parks.

The family request donations to Hope Food Pantry or LaRue County Public Library. All donations may be made at the funeral home.

Remember that 3/16 will be your deadline for new policies and changes to existing policies. Add a new member to your LLC? Get married since 3/15/25?
