A little chain link tear out and a new set for an eventual 6’ tall wood privacy fence. The city got there and have the approval for the holes and we got it set right after. It was a busy day. Another jam packed day to get things rolling on this Friday. This is a beautiful 6’ cedar privacy that we finished up today. We set posts for a fence in Decatur this morning and once we got that approved by the city we set it, prepped it and got to this job to get it done before the holiday weekend

What a day. After removing the old fence yesterday and battling some fierce yellow jackets that were protecting the fire wood, I got a few bites and made them immensely upset. Anyway, we got back there today to take on the challenge yet again. First thing we had to do was see if those pesky yellow jackets were going to attack again or lay low. And… we found out really quickly they weren’t gonna play nice. So… we had to try and blow up the hive that was tucked in the wood pile. I took on a few more stings and nearly succumb to their war games but I was able to keep the crew safe battling this pesky devils while the crew stood back using 4 cans of the 27’ wasp spray killer. After we got that blown apart… and mostly died out, we finally set out to get all the new posts set. Things went really well, outside of working around the shed and that wood pile, but we stayed consistent and made it happen! We braved the elements (including the viscous heat) and it’s all done and ready. We will be back next week to finish with another 2 cans of wasp killer spray on hand if needed.

We intended to get this job set yesterday- but the weatherman was off a little bit in their predictions. We were up in the Leo area and what was supposed to be a touch and go rain trend into thunderstorms and lighting. Unfortunately that put a damper on the day but this morning we came back with some renewed energy (given we would need it with this crazy heat and humidity!) and we got this beauty set. It’s going to be a gorgeous convex cedar picket fence when we get it all done. Keep an eye out for the finished project next week when we get back to this project.

Opportunities are driven by hard work, determination and a commitment to quality. We got this job set Monday before the rains pushed back in on the north side of town. One of the interesting facts we discovered, several other fence companies wouldn’t install the fence where the homeowner wanted it to go. They said it couldn’t be done and they wanted nothing to do with it. We looked, we came up with a plan, and then we executed! If you notice, the entire back line was running along power and cables. Not to mention both sides had underground utilities skirting the proposed line. We stayed safe- took our time, hand dug and cleared all the utilities! It went great! Others, they didn’t want to put in the work- this homeowners goal was just too risky? To hard? To complex? Well, for us, this was an opportunity to show skill outweighs the “pound it and go” mentality.

Every day can be exciting, fun and interesting. We had the opportunity to get this little project set up and ready. What we’ve come to realize over the past few months is there are a lot of “fence installers” in our area- but there aren’t a lot of fence craftsman. When the owner is always on the job and doing the work and the crew is small- the flow, the coordination and the process is seamless. Everyone has the same goals- the same ethics and the same commitment- what that means is at the end of the day, this homeowner will get the best quality fence in the area! Because time, patience and details matter. And when you have a crew of 3- they all are committed to that very purpose!

Another beautiful fence is complete and now this homeowner can begin to enjoy the newly renovated backyard. I wish you could see how much time, detail and thought was out into this project. It was a very special experience. When another company wanted to “box” off the yard to avoid going into the swale along the side, we said why not go into the swale and keep as much of your usable property as possible. A cleaner look, more manageable area and an increased amount of space to keep. In order to do that, we actually extended the overall height of the fence and blended in a reverse taper. Longer, custom cut pickets with a clean, crisp line that blended from 6’ to nearly 7’ at the lowest point in the swale, and then back into 6’ at the back corner. It was an absolute ton of work- but what a substantial difference. Would you know that we don’t have the same heights? I doubt you’d see it, but we know why a world of difference that extra foot makes on the visual impression! Wow! That was some hard work for sure but doesn’t it look amazing!!!!
