In 1954, the Chattanooga DuPont Plant was one of southeast Tennessee’s largest employers, hiring people from all over the tri-state region. Some of these people saw the need for a different kind of financial institution – one that could meet the financial needs of ALL its employees, no matter their financial situation. Recognizing that credit unions embraced the philosophy of “people helping peopl
e,” the wheels were set in motion. On February 26, 1954, the Chattanooga DuPont Nylon Employees Credit Union was organized and chartered. Since then, many changes have shaped Scenic Community Credit Union into the strong financial institution it is today. But our philosophy is the same as that of the original founders: we strive to advance financial peace of mind within our community. We accomplish this in three main ways.

2: Financial Wellness
We also strive to promote the financial wellbeing of our members by offering one-on-one financial counseling and education through GreenPath Financial Wellness. SCCU members have access to certified financial counselors who can walk you through your credit report, help you make a household budget, set up a debt management plan with you, and more.
3: Community Involvement
Finally, we are committed to giving back to our community. SCCU supports local organizations by sponsoring events, hosting food and supply drives, and volunteering every year.
