Do You Know What's Actually Covered Under Your Current Home Insurance?

Here are 3 common coverages that typically require an endorsement or separate policy:

1. Water Backup
Damage caused by water backing up through drains, sewers, or sump pumps is often not covered unless you've added Water Backup coverage.

2. Service Line Coverage
Damage to underground utility lines, such as water, sewer, electrical, or gas lines running to your home, is typically not covered unless this coverage is added to your policy.

3. Equipment Breakdown Coverage
A standard homeowners policy may not cover the mechanical or electrical breakdown of certain home systems and appliances. Equipment Breakdown coverage can help provide protection for things like HVAC systems, appliances, and other covered equipment.

3 Things Most Homeowners Don't Know:

1. Your home's market value isn't the same as its insured value.
Homeowners insurance is based on the cost to rebuild your home, not what it would sell for on the real estate market.

2. Most standard homeowners insurance policies don't cover water backup from drains or sump pump failures unless you've added the coverage. A simple endorsement can provide valuable protection against a common type of water damage.

3. Replacement Cost and Actual Cash Value aren't the same.
Replacement Cost helps pay to replace damaged property with new items of similar kind and quality, while Actual Cash Value factors in depreciation, which may result in a lower claim payment.

A captive agency represents one insurance company. Examples include State Farm, Farm Bureau, and others. Their agents can only offer products from that specific company.

👋 Meet Andy Wright!

Andy joined Goss Insurance with more than six years of industry experience and a passion for building strong relationships with clients. As an Insurance Agent, he's focused on helping current clients, assisting new customers with their insurance needs, and serving as a trusted resource for our community.

Originally from Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, Andy played college baseball at MTSU and now enjoys running, fitness, golf, and spending time with his wife and family. His dream vacation destination is Greece; he's a coffee drinker and a morning person; and one of his favorite verses is 2 Corinthians 5:7: "For we walk by faith, not by sight."

With Andy and his wife eagerly awaiting the arrival of their newborn baby, he says his biggest motivation is building a strong future for his growing family. We're grateful for the dedication, care, and positive impact Andy brings to our clients and our team every day!

I am a lifelong resident of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, and a proud graduate of Soddy Daisy High School's Class of 2015. I continued my education at Middle Tennessee State University, where I earned a degree in Criminal Justice and Business Administration in May 2019 while playing baseball for the Blue Raiders throughout all four years of college.

Following graduation, I began my insurance career in August 2019 and have spent the past several years building industry knowledge and experience while working with Fortune 500 companies and beyond to serve their insurance needs.
