Yes, I had the pleasure of needing to call Duke billing department yesterday.

It seems someone in billing really needs to work on their basic math skills.

Yesterday we received a letter from Duke that we owed them $30,000. After a lengthy call (with a spectacular cs rep Monique) I was told that there was no explanation why the balance was not reflecting the 29,000 paid by our insurance company.

The statement looks like this
Amount billed 29,948
Amount your insurance covered 29,267
Amount you owe the provider 29,948.

Lol yes it literally showed no math done. Monique was mystified with the statement as well. She conferred with a supervisor and was told there was no valid explanation ( in pending state even though it wasn’t pending) to give them 7-10 days to rectify.

So today I go in to take a picture (to share here)
And the amount owed is $130. So the math is still off ( we should owe $680)

The moral of this story… the benefit of working with an Advisor, I will help you navigate not only choosing a plan, but I am your trusted advisor for all the obstacles that may come along.
