After months of expected interest rate cuts, the Federal Reserve is shifting its focus back to managing inflation. This "higher-for-longer" interest rate environment may present compelling opportunities in short-term fixed income, while equities can continue to be supported by strong and broadening earnings growth. Brian Therien, Investment Strategist, explains what this could mean for investors in our Weekly Market Wrap.

Not every upgrade actually improves your life.

It’s easy to assume that better always means newer, bigger, or more refined. And sometimes that’s true.

But I’ve noticed that some upgrades don’t make life better. They just make it more complex. More to manage, more to maintain, more to think about.

I’ve seen this play out with housing. Moving from a home that clearly fits your needs into a larger one that comes with a bigger payment, more upkeep, and more pressure to justify the change. The space increases, but so does the weight that comes with it.

It can also be smaller things. A few extra subscriptions or added commitments. Individually, they seem harmless, but over time they add weight without adding much value.

Over time, that can quietly pull us away from what we actually value.

Contentment isn’t about avoiding improvement. It’s about recognizing when something is already doing its job well.

More isn’t always the upgrade we think it is.

Recently, I had a conversation with someone navigating a major life transition. There was a lot of uncertainty, and with it came understandable stress.

Moments like that can feel overwhelming, especially when decisions carry so much weight and clarity isn’t immediate.

It was a reminder that stewardship doesn’t always look like managing accounts or protecting assets.

Sometimes it looks like slowing down, listening well, and helping someone take the next step with a little more confidence than they had before.

Not every use of our resources is financial.
Time, attention, and presence matter just as much.

Question for reflection: when things feel uncertain, do you tend to lean in for support, or try to carry it alone?

After beginning the year with markets pricing in multiple rate cuts, a sharply accelerating labor market and energy-driven inflation have meaningfully shifted the outlook toward potential policy tightening — creating a more complex backdrop for equities and fixed income alike. Senior Economist James McCann explains what this could mean for investors in our Weekly Market Wrap.

Today's Hero Highlight: Miguel Viera

I had the opportunity to spend lunch with Miguel today before he headed out to deliver pizzas to local shelters and youth centers.

As Executive Director of FMA, he works to connect resources with those in need, and it was great to see that commitment in action. Keep up the great work, Miguel!

As investors look beyond Middle East tensions, U.S. economic fundamentals are coming into sharper focus, driven by an accelerating AI investment and robust corporate profit growth, reinforcing the constructive case for equities. However, elevated inflation may keep rate cuts off the table and limit near-term progress in bond markets.

Senior Economist James McCann explains what this could mean for investors in our Weekly Market Wrap.

Scarcity doesn’t always come from lack.

I’ve seen it show up in people who are doing well on paper. Stable, responsible, and thoughtful with their decisions.

But there’s still hesitation. Second‑guessing. A sense that every decision has to be optimized or delayed.

Not because resources aren’t there, but because certainty feels just out of reach.
An abundance mindset isn’t about ignoring risk or being careless. It’s about recognizing when enough is already present and allowing that to shape how you move forward.

Sometimes the shift isn’t financial.
It’s internal.

Quick gut check: do your decisions feel driven more by confidence or caution right now?
