I’ve been waiting for today for over 20 years -

The Homebuyer Privacy Protection Act goes into effect today. It imposes strict limitations on the use of trigger leads and drastically reduces unwanted solicitations during the mortgage process.

Prior to this legislation the credit repositories could sell your information to ANY lender under the veil of a prescreened credit offer.

Borrowers have reported dozens of unsolicited phone calls within minutes of having a credit check for a home loan. That will now be limited to only entities with a current financial relationship such as their current mortgage servicer or a bank with depository accounts.

This is a huge bipartisan win in protecting homebuyer privacy.
