I’ve known James since he was a little kid, and watching his journey has been nothing short of inspiring.
After years of surgeries, setbacks, and perseverance, he’s stepping into his future with courage and incredible talent. Please read his post and help support Kish Cabinetry as he begins this next chapter.
5 out 6 surgeries done in the past 3 years. As most of you know, by the end of the year of 2025 me and my family found out that I had multiple cysts growing in my face after we found out I started having hemifacial spasms. Now out of all of the cysts in my face I had one growing in my left maxillary sinus. What I thought to be allergies being the reason I couldn't breathe turned out to be a lime sized cyst in my face that broke my cheek bone. After a biopsy the doctor was able to remove most of it but still needing to get more we scheduled another surgery that took place recently.
I've mostly recovered now but in this surgery I had to have 3 wisdom teeth removed as well as three more cysts removed, along with the rest of the big one they got most of before. In what was a 5 hour surgery where we stayed the night luckily everything went well and I am back to normal for the most part now. Now I can breathe again and am getting ready for my final skillsUSA competition in Reno to end my senior year. And then after that I will hopefully have one more surgery that just might restore the hearing in my right ear I lost from radiation. And from there I'm off into the real world and running my cabinet business full time.
And I'm very very proud to announce that after I just purchased my first table saw for my garage and completed my collection. I just got my first client remodeling a kitchen for all of the cabinets in it. And I am so grateful for all of the support I've gotten through this journey to bring me to where I am today. From selling subpar pens on a $100 lathe at 14 years old to making high end (in perfection) custom cabinets and furniture, I truly couldn't have done it without all of your support. And with that.
Once I get my life back in order a little bit. The doctor says it'll be about a week for my jaw to fully heal so I can eat normally again. But after that, stay tuned because Kish Cabinetry is getting prepared and ready to open for business in the las vegas valley for everyone to get the quality furniture and cabinets they deserve for a price and attention to detail from a local artist, unlike the overpriced and very imperfect ikea and chinese made furniture for the companies to just make a quick buck on. Like my mom says. You will never meet a woodworker more passionate than me.
And I truly do this because of all of your support from everyone reading this, from my diagnosis at 7 to my high school graduation at 18. The doctors thought I wouldnt make it till 8 and here I am a decade later. And all I want from here on out is to be free and healthy to create the art and the community that the world deserves. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for bringing me this far and stay tuned for the very big journey ahead. I'm hoping my first book will come out by summer so stay in the loop for new cabinets, art, and even my first book. I love you all
