Great information for people with a Roth IRA

We write a lot of homeowners policies, and one of the most common things we hear from buyers is:

"I'm not sure."

While that's completely understandable, there are a few important things you'll want to ask about before closing on a home.

✅ Age of the Roof
This is one of the first questions your insurance company may ask. Knowing the age of the roof can affect eligibility, coverage options, and underwriting requirements.

✅ Age of the Wiring
Especially in older homes, insurance companies may want to know if the electrical system has been updated and when.

✅ Age of the Plumbing
Older plumbing systems can increase the risk of water damage claims. Knowing if and when updates were made can be very important.

✅ Previous Claims
Ask if the home has experienced previous storm, wind, hail, water, or other insurance claims and whether repairs were completed.

✅ Recreational Items
Planning on having a pool, hot tub, trampoline, ATV, or side-by-side? Let your agent know before purchasing coverage.

✅ Condition of the Property
Overhanging trees, damaged decks, aging roofs, peeling siding, or other maintenance concerns may be reviewed during underwriting inspections.

💡 Pro Tip: Before closing, ask the seller or realtor for as much information as possible about the home's roof, wiring, plumbing, and major updates. Having those answers ahead of time can make the insurance process much smoother and help avoid delays.
