We’ve had several questions lately about how deductibles work on both home and auto policies, so we wanted to help clear up some confusion.

A deductible is:
👉 The amount YOU chose to be responsible for before the insurance company pays on a covered loss.

Deductibles apply:
✔️ PER OCCURRENCE
❌ NOT once per policy term

That means:
If something happens at 8:00 AM, and then a completely separate loss happens again at 8:00 PM, those are considered TWO separate occurrences and would each have their own deductible.

Example:
If you chose a $2,500 deductible:
• First covered loss = you pay the first $2,500
• Second separate covered loss = you pay the first $2,500 again

This applies to both home and auto policies.

Your deductible amount is selected by you when the policy is written and directly impacts your premium — generally, the higher the deductible, the lower the premium.
