A century ago, Sears mailed people entire houses.

You browsed a catalog and picked a model. Prices ran from $360 to $2,890. A boxcar then arrived at your depot with 30,000 pre-cut pieces, 750 pounds of nails, 27 gallons of paint, and a 75-page manual.

Sears sold up to 75,000 of these homes over three decades. The premium Honor Bilt tier included wiring for electricity, plumbing, and central heating. An estimated 70 percent are still standing.

It later failed because it couldn't adapt to the internet.

Remember if you’ve had the same policy on your home for a long time over 10-15 years- you probably have a lower deductible and if it’s older your may have coverage and limits not offered.

Deductibles for wind/hail are like 1-2%, new policies roofs shouldn’t be over 10 years old, and you also want city ordinance coverage.

Avoid freezing pipes - open up cabinets under sinks especially sinks on outer walls; turn on hot water until water is hot then let hot water drip; you also can put portable heater in front of open cabinets or wrap pipes wi to insulation or towels/blankets.
