Recently, I decided to do something a little outside of my comfort zone: I started taking golf lessons. Am I any good? Nope, not yet. 😂 But I’m learning—and I’m really glad I decided to give it a try.
What started as simply wanting to learn something new has opened the door to meeting some wonderful women who I get to share this journey with. It’s also challenged me to slow down, focus, be patient with myself, and keep working to get a little better each time.
And the more I learn, the more I realize how much golf mirrors so many things in life, even in my work as a financial advisor. You don’t have to have everything figured out before you start. Progress comes from having a plan, staying focused, making adjustments along the way, and continuing to show up.
Whether it’s learning a golf swing, building a business, or working toward your financial goals, none of us start out as experts. Sometimes the biggest step is simply being willing to start.
My golf game still has a long way to go, but I’m having a lot of fun learning, meeting new people, and reminding myself that getting outside your comfort zone is usually where growth happens.
