Jonathan Erwin Lee- Age 46
Of Kinston, North Carolina
Charges:
Attempted First Degree Murder (F)
Felony Break/enter to terrorize/injure (F)
DVPO Violation with a Deadly Weapon (F)
On February 25 th, 2024, at approximately 09:45pm. Deputies of the Jones County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic call on
Middle Road in Trenton, NC.
The suspect, identified as Jonathan Erwin Lee, age 46 of Kinston, broke into the victim's residence and attempted to cut her throat; the victim's teenage son intervened, potentially saving his mother's life by scaring off the suspect (Jonathan Lee).
The suspect (Jonathan Lee) fled in a stolen vehicle and headed
in the direction of Kinston. While fleeing, the suspect wrecked his
vehicle on NC Hwy 58 near Southwood. With the assistance of
Lenior County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina Highway
Patrol they were able to locate the vehicle and take the suspect into custody.
Jonathan Lee was charged with multiple traffic offenses, then subsequently transferred over to the custody of the Jones County Sheriff's Office where he was taken before the magistrate. He was charged with; Attempted First Degree Murder, Felony Break/Enter to terrorize/injure, and DVPO Violation with a Deadly Weapon. His Bond was set at $250,000, Secured.
The victim, age 34, who has an active Domestic Violence Protection Order against the suspect, is currently recovering. Our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family. We would like to thank the Lenior County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Kinston Police Department, and our 911 telecommunicators for their assistance.
This investigation is still ongoing; further charges may be issued after cosultation with the District Attorney's Office.
