You receive a friendly text from an unknown number—“Are we still on for dinner?”
It may seem harmless, but it could be the start of a scam. Fraudsters use “wrong number” messages to start conversations, build trust, and eventually ask for money or personal information.
Protect yourself:
-Don’t reply to unexpected texts from unknown numbers
-Never share personal or financial information over text
-Mark suspicious messages as spam to help prevent future scams
If something feels off, trust your instincts and don’t engage.
