ACDC - Adam Combs Detasseling Company We contract to detassel seed acres for Pioneer Hi-Bred, one of the largest seed companies in the United States. That’s all there is to it! Detasseling is tough.

Detasseling involves removing tassels that grow on a corn plant, which forces cross-pollination. The steps involved include finding the tassel, pulling it off, and throwing it to the ground. But, it must be done right, or the crop will fail. It’s a hot, muddy and sweaty job, but it’s a great way to work for a few weeks in the summer and reap the financial reward. Every summer (late June or early July), we hire thousands of dependable people to detassel in teams that work for a few weeks.The team heads out in the early morning hours (between 5–6 a.m.) so be sure to fuel up with a good breakfast.

Hello, we wanted to regrettably inform you know that due to circumstances beyond our control, we are not going to be running a detasseling crew this year. We have tried to recruit more kids but we do not have the numbers to have a successful crew this year. We are very sorry to have to tell you so late in the season. If you (or your child) is still interested in detasseling, we have talked to other contractors and they are willing to accept more applications. Please let them know as soon as possible if you are interested since they will probably be starting in a week or so. Hello everyone,

The previously scheduled meeting for tomorrow March 24th has been canceled. The other 2 meetings scheduled for April 13th and 27th will still be available.

If you are not able to attend either of the April sign up meetings Mr. Combs will be handing out applications outside of the gym tomorrow after school.
