This summer, Sara and Abby explored Nebraska as the kickoff trip for the Scott Scholar Passport Program that Sara started. The program is designed to give Scott Scholars the ability to explore Nebraska without having to worry about expenses.

They traveled to the Kiewit Luminarium, the Joslyn Art Museum, the Lauritzen Gardens, and the International Quilt Museum! They learned that there is so much more to do in Nebraska than people think, and they want everyone to have the opportunity to explore Nebraska.

Last week, our freshman Scott Scholars took a trip to the Omaha Zoo. They met with members of the Scott Foundation and got to meet freshman Scott Scholars from other colleges.

We are so excited to see what our freshman will do over the next 4 years!

Our Scott Scholars took a trip to Lincoln to work with Joshua Berry on how to build trust in teams, resolve conflict, and manage relationships.

They worked with Joshua for 2 days, with a detour to Omaha for some Top Golf!

Wyatt spent his summer interning with UFarm where he gained hands-on experience in agricultural real estate and management. He flew drones to capture aerial imagery of managed properties helping clients and tenants track crop progress, disease, and weather impacts. He became FAA certified in small unmanned aircraft systems.

Wyatt also had the chance to shadow appraisers, brokers, and farm managers, which gave him a deeper understanding to the different sides of the industry. His favorite part was how open everyone was to his questions and the unique perspectives he gained on agriculture beyond what he had known before!

Last Wednesday was our academic showcase. Many of our scholars had the opportunity to present the projects they have been working on throughout the year and got recognized for the hard work and dedication that they have shown both inside and outside of the classroom.

We are so proud of all of our scholars!

Reminiscing on the second day of the first year Scott Scholars trip to Lincoln and Omaha!

To start the day off, the Scholars met with Nebraska Governor, Jim Pillen, (and his sweet dog, Daisy!) to learn about his policies and what he enjoys about being governor.

They then headed to Walter Scott's beautiful home in Omaha, where they were given a tour and told all about his accomplishments and his fun and family-oriented personality.

To finish the day out, they had a workshop with former Navy Seal, Brad Woodard. He taught them about the importance of team mentality and covering for each other.

Earlier this week, the first year Scott Scholars attended a trip to Lincoln where they met many influential people.

They toured the Kawasaki plant in Lincoln where they got the opportunity to see more into the assembly line process and their unique style of production. Kawasaki has an important role in Nebraska business with the jobs they create and the money they put back into Lincoln.

They then had lunch with author, speaker, and founder of Econic, Joshua Berry.

Afterwards, they met at the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce with Jason Ball and discussed their pro-business policies.

To end the day, they took a tour of the Nebraska State Capitol building and learned more about the legislative process from Husch and Blackwell Strategies.

Our graduating Scott Scholars had an incredible experience at the Senior Scott Scholar Summit in Omaha this past weekend!

They spent an evening at the Luminarium, exploring, learning, and building connections with fellow scholars from the nine participating schools.

We’re truly grateful for the invaluable opportunities made possible by the Suzanne and Walter Scott Foundation!
