Renting a car? Here is a quick tip that can save you a ton of $$ and headaches.

Before you drive off and again when you return it take a slow walk-around video. Capture the body, wheels, windshield and interior. Get close ups of scratches or dents, and have existing damage documented by the rental company before leaving. 📱

Then, know your protection BEFORE you grab the keys:

✅ Check your insurance. Your personal auto policy may cover damage to a rental, but deductibles and coverage gaps can still leave you paying out of pocket including certain fees while the car is being repaired.

✅ Ask about the rental company’s damage waiver. Find out the daily cost, what it covers and what exclusions apply before deciding.

A video helps document what happened. It doesn’t replace coverage. Do the walk-around either way!

I’ve seen a lot of this lately. People are getting charged hundreds and sometimes thousands of $$. 30 seconds and a little planning could save you a lot.
