The Justice Department uncovered and prosecuted more than $1 billion in fraudulent payments from COVID-era programs, mostly going to those from the Somali community in Minnesota, from which Omar hails. Of the 87 people charged in the schemes, all but eight are of Somali descent, CBS News host Margaret Brennan pointed out during an interview with Omar on Sunday.

For example, acting U.S. Attorney Lisa Kirkpatrick said in a March news release that “Aimee Bock and Salim Said took advantage of the Covid-19 pandemic to carry out a massive fraud scheme that stole money meant to feed children.”

“The defendants falsely claimed to have served 91 million meals, for which they fraudulently received nearly $250 million in federal funds. That money did not go to feed kids. Instead, it was used to fund their lavish lifestyles. Today’s verdict sends a message to the community that fraud against the government will not be tolerated,” the prosecutor said.

Republican John Nagel, who is seeking to unseat Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, says that she has "deep ties" to those who have been charged and, in many cases, convicted of fraud against the American taxpayer. Medicaid still getting FRUAD!!!! As a massive fraud scheme costing state and federal taxpayers at least $1 billion dollars continues to unfold in Minnesota, Fox News Digital visited several locations that received funding through programs like Feeding Our Future and found several inconsistencies exposing the depth of the scandal. The now-infamous Griggs-Midway Building housed an "unusual concentration" of fraudulent entities involved in the HSS scheme, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson.

Twenty-two "businesses" connected to the HSS program were registered to this single location. Thompson described these entities as "purely fictitious companies solely created to defraud the system."

These 22 fraudulent businesses collectively billed Medicaid for a staggering $8 million between January 2024 and May 2025.

Fox News investigation reveals fake businesses at heart of Minnesota's $1 billion fraud scheme, with 22 fraudulent entities registered to single building.

Nearly 590,000 bottles of blood pressure drugs have been recalled over concerns that they may contain a potentially carcinogenic chemical that exceeds the “acceptable intake limit.”

The medications affected by the recall — prazosin hydrochloride — were recalled earlier this month by Teva Pharmaceuticals USA (which initiated its recall on Oct. 7) and Amerisource Health Services (Oct. 26). Enforcement reports published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) indicate the capsules may contain nitrosamine impurities above the “Carcinogenic Potency Categorization Approach (CPCA)” limit.According to the FDA, N-nitrosamine impurities are a class of potentially cancer-causing chemicals that can form during the manufacture or storage of a drug.

The enforcement reports show that on Oct. 24, the agency classified the recalls as Class II, meaning health officials believe that the use of the affected product “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

The recall currently affects only 1mg, 2mg and 5mg capsules of prazosin hydrochloride distributed by Teva Pharmaceuticals USA and Amerisource Health Services, and only those with specific lot numbers and expiration dates. Most of the recalled bottles were distributed by Teva (over 580,000), while the rest were distributed by Amerisource.Doctors prescribe prazosin, which relaxes blood vessels, to help lower blood pressure. It is also sometimes prescribed for nightmares and other sleep disturbances caused by post-traumatic stress disorder.

Patients with any of the recalled medications should contact their healthcare providers or pharmacies with any questions, the FDA says. It warned, however, that “stopping your medicine may be more harmful to your health than continuing to take the recalled medicine” in some cases.

Cut Medicare overbilling to offset Obamacare rate hikes

(The Center Square) – Obamacare premiums are expected to rise about 30% next year, adding pressure on Congress as Democrats continue to block a Continuing Resolution to reopen the federal government over the issue.

Health policy experts say lawmakers could offset the increase by cutting $124 billion in Medicare Advantage overbilling by private insurers.

The Congressional Budget Office estimates that health insurers will overbill the federal government by $124 billion over the next decade through Medicare Advantage, the private insurance alternative to traditional Medicare, according to the agency.

The bipartisan NO UPCODE Act, sponsored by U.S. Sens. Bill Cassidy, R-Louisiana, and Jeff Merkley, D-Oregon, targets the practice of upcoding, where insurers exaggerate patient conditions to receive higher Medicare payments.

“The federal government pays insurers $1 trillion a year. If plans raise rates in Obamacare, let’s make them pay for it by ending their overbilling in Medicare,” Mark Merritt, a healthcare policy expert and former healthcare trade association CEO, said in a statement to The Center Square. “Congress can no longer ignore the nearly one-quarter trillion dollars it will pay private insurance companies next year to administer public health plans. It’s the only real pot of money there is.”

5 Social Security Changes That Are Already Impacting Most Retirees

1. The percentage of overpayment clawbacks has gone up - Social Security Administration announced it would reinstate a 100% withholding rate for recovering overpayments, meaning full benefit checks could be withheld to recoup alleged excesses.

2. Some retirees are getting a bigger benefits - Nearly 3 million retirees — including retired federal employees, police officers, and teachers — are seeing increased benefits and retroactive payments as the windfall elimination provision (WEP) and government pension offset (GPO) have been phased out.

3. Student loan payments are reducing Social Security payments - Federal law requires reductions in Social Security payments when individuals default on student loan obligations. These offsets can reduce benefit payments unexpectedly for affected retirees, even for those receiving Social Security disability benefits.

4. The 'One Big Beautiful Bill' allows more retirees to pay less federal tax on their benefits - Under the Trump administration's "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," seniors aged 65 and older may qualify for a new deduction (up to $6,000 for individuals, $12,000 for married couples filing jointly) that reduces taxable income and indirectly lowers the federal tax burden on Social Security between tax years 2025 to 2028. However, the deduction starts to phase out for higher income levels (above $75,000 for individuals and above $150,000 for married couples filing jointly) and does not fully eliminate taxation of benefit.

5. Full retirement age is increasing - In 2026, the FRA will increase to 67 for filers born in 1960 or later.

BEWARE OF CASS COUNTY SHERIFF'S SCAM.. He called said he was with the Cass County Sherrif's office Deputy Harris badge # 12-14 and I had a warrant out for my arrest on two charges contempt of court and failure to appear for a federal grand jury . He had my full name, phone number and address. Said I had to stay on the phone the whole time or could be arrested at anytime and there was a gag order I couldn't talk about it with anyone.
Made me read the 2 documents they texted me that is when I realized it was a scam. He was saying I hand to go to one of their retailers not the sheriff's office. I was supposed to pay 10% of each charge at $45,000 each how much could I pay for my bond. I called the real Sheriff's office then and confirmed it was a scam.

Fraud prevention tips to help protect yourself

Fraudsters target & victimize all generations.
Here’s help to fight back.

VERIFY THE SOURCE
If you did not initiate any type of communication, PHONE CALLS - TEXT MESSAGES - EMIALS using what you know is a legitimate telephone number, email address, or website account location, DO NOT give out ANY personal information including your address, birth date, Social Security or account numbers, PINs, or one-time password (OTP) codes to recieve.

BE VIGILANT
On phone calls you receive: - DON’T answer a call from an unfamiliar number. If you do answer a call from an unknown number, if prompted, DO NOT enter a response to stop receiving calls. Hang up.

For texts and emails you receive - DO NOT click on a link in a text or email until you are certain that the sender is legitimate. Taking a few minutes to verify the validity of a communication could mean the difference between engaging in or successfully preventing a damaging and expensive experience.

TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS
If an offer sounds too good to be true, "IT IS" and it could very likely be an attempt to defraud you. DO NOT respond in haste just because you are being pressured to take an immediate action or make a decision. Scammers use emotional manipulation to trigger an immediate response.

ASK FOR HELP
BEFORE YOU MAKE A MISTAKE
Victims of fraud have reported that they were fearful or embarrassed to admit they had been scammed. They also felt overwhelmed by the process to sort out the damage they incurred. And, depending upon the complexity of the fraud, the emotional and financial effects of the fraudulent act can last for months or years.

DO report the incident to the appropriate authorities. You could be instrumental in helping shut down a fraudulent operation and protecting others from being victimized.

Just had a client all me. Scared to death because her "AROBICS" instructor told her that Silver Sneakers was going away in 2026 on her plan. Funny how all these uneducated so-called healthcare professionals become "Medicare Experts" right before AEP begins.

Scam of the Week

Cybercriminals are targeting marketing professionals with a job opportunity that seems too good to be true. You receive an email that appears to be from Netflix’s HR department offering you a high-level marketing position. If you reply to this email, you will soon receive a second email that is sent from the “Netflix HR team.” This email contains a link for you to click so that you can schedule a job interview.

If you click the link, you’ll be taken to what appears to be a Netflix careers page and asked to create a “Career Profile.” You’ll be given the option to log in with your Facebook account to create the profile. However, this job opportunity isn’t real, and the emails you received were actually sent by cybercriminals. If you enter your Facebook login information, cybercriminals will steal it instantly and take control of your account!
