The last penny was minted on Wednesday after over 230 years in circulation. Even though the penny will continue to be legal tender, many stores are already rounding up on transactions.

If you want to get rid of the pennies you have collected, now is the time to do it! The Fed is already rejecting penny deposits from banks and credit unions, some will take them, but they are requiring a hefty fee to do so. Currently, we are still taking penny deposits like normal, but this is subject to change if a fee starts being required of us.
