This September, in observance of Su***de Prevention Month, American Farm Bureau is releasing a five-part video series that offers insights and showcases innovative, grassroots strategies to move the needle on mental well-being in rural communities.

Grassroots advocates are essential to effective outreach and many have identified tactics that are currently working in rural communities. Hear from Marshal Sewell (founder of the Mind Your Melon Foundation), Adrienne DeSutter (founder of Sow Hope, Grow Hope) and John Sachse (founder of RanchFIT coaching) as they discuss the unique programs they’ve built to improve mental well-being among farmers and ranchers. These leaders share what inspired them to "get off the fence," along with the practical insights gained along the way toward reducing stigma and creating a culture where mental health is supported proactively, rather than only at a point of crisis. Calling Arkansas direct-to-consumer farmers and ranchers! The Arkansas Farm Trail is back for another season, and expanding with more farms. Are you looking for a unique way to promote your local food business, increase sales and connect with consumers? The Arkansas Farm Trail is a passport program that brings consumers across the state directly to your farm.
By joining the program, you’ll be featured in ArFB’s Arkansas Farm Trail passport, which incentivizes Arkansans to visit farms and collect stamps to earn prizes. Our hope is that visitors will learn your farm’s story, purchase your products and learn firsthand where their food comes from.
ArFB’s Arkansas Farm Trail is focused on promoting the production of local foods such as fruits and vegetables, grains and meat/animal products. Value-added products such as jams, jellies and pickles are included as well.
Slots on the 2027 farm trail are limited and may be selected based on factors including regionality, product diversification and other factors. Applications close Oct. 2.

Arkansas producers who applied for the USDA Emergency Commodity Assistance Program (ECAP) in 2025 and whose payment was limited to $125,000 may be eligible for a higher payment limitation. Producers who received 75% of gross income from farming, ranching or forestry may qualify for an increased payment limitation of up to $250,000 by submitting Form CCC-943.

The deadline to submit Form CCC-943 is August 17, 2026.

If you believe your ECAP payment was affected by the payment limitation, contact your tax professional and your local FSA office as soon as possible. To complete the certification, your CPA, enrolled agent or attorney will likely need information from your 2020, 2021 and 2022 tax returns to determine whether you meet the 75% gross income requirement.

For additional information and eligibility requirements, reach out to your county FSA office.
