BakerHopp Insurance Group BakerHopp Insurance Group helps Michigan businesses and individuals with Business & Personal Insurance So, Mr.

BakerHopp Insurance Group has been serving its clients since 1916. John A Baker started his career in the life insurance business. In the late 1920's, at the start of the Great Depression, people were borrowing on their life insurance, rather than purchasing new. Baker entered the independent agency system, offering auto, home and business insurance to his customers. In 1945, John Baker asked his

son-in-law, David Hopp, to join him in the business; and thus, the beginning of BakerHopp. The business continued to grow, and in 1967, David Hopp Jr. entered the agency after graduating from Western Michigan University with a major in insurance. He was successful in expanding the agency with organic growth and through acquisitions. In 1988, BakerHopp was named in Michigan Business Magazine as the 69th fastest growing privately held company in Michigan. In 1996, Gretchen Hopp Doyle had a successful career in Chicago working as a public relations professional. But she realized that her calling was to work for her father in the insurance industry, and as a result she moved back home to Detroit in 1996 to join the agency as a Commercial Lines Producer. Adopting the same work ethic and client dedication shown by her previous three generations, Gretchen became Vice-President and a minority stockholder six years later. In 2006, after almost forty years in the industry, David Hopp Jr. retired from the insurance business and sold the agency to Gretchen. Gretchen acknowledges the key to the success of the business was “staying true to our guiding principles, while forming and maintaining great relationships with our insurance companies, customers, and employees.” While Detroit has changed a great deal in the past century, the pillars of BakerHopp Insurance Group have remained exactly the same. And under Gretchen’s stewardship, the company looks forward to its next 100 years providing industry-leading levels of service, ethical business practices as it provides protection to companies and families in and around Metro Detroit.

Last Friday, Gretchen Hopp Doyle and family were at the Indy 500 cheering on a very important race team: Bologna Bridget and her driving partner, Bun Length Ben, behind the wheel of Chi Dog in the 2026 edition of the Oscar Mayer Wienie 500.

Six Wienermobiles. One unforgettable race. A whole lot of fun.

The entire BakerHopp team was proudly cheering them on as they duked it out on one of racing’s biggest stages. Congratulations to all the racers for making this year’s Wienie 500 one to remember.

And yes… we’re officially Team Chi Dog. 🌭

There’s nothing better than spending a day on the course with great people for an even greater cause.

Last week, D-RIVEN Engineered Solutions hosted the D-Riven Golf Outing in support of 42Strong, raising more than $35,000 to help further their incredible mission and impact.

Gretchen Hopp Doyle, Bernadette Gallagher, and Shelby Thomason were proud to be out on the course alongside our partner Lynzie Norris from Accident Fund Insurance Company of America. And in true competitive spirit, Bernie also took home longest drive honors for the day. Go, Bernie!

At BakerHopp, we believe raising the BAR means showing up for our clients, our partners, and our communities, both in business and beyond. We’re grateful to D-Riven for putting together such a meaningful event and proud to support the work being done through 42 Strong.

Some events leave you energized about what’s possible.

Gretchen Hopp Doyle recently attended the ISAIC - Industrial Sewing and Innovation Center Honors alongside her daughter, Mara Doyle. This year’s theme, “Confidence to Transform,” set the tone for an evening focused on innovation, leadership, and the future of manufacturing.

This event took place in the Industrial Sewing and Innovation Center's new, expanded space at the College For Creative Studies Taubman Center –a reflection of how far ISAIC has come. What began in Detroit has grown into a national nonprofit driving meaningful impact across the industry.

Events like this matter. They highlight important work, bring people together, and move industries forward.

We encourage you to take a closer look at what ISAIC is building. https://isaic.org/

Last week, our team had the opportunity to attend “Woman Up and Celebrate,” hosted by Michigan Women Forward and led by the always-inspiring Carolyn Cassin. It was an evening dedicated to recognizing women who are making a real impact across our communities and industries.

We’re especially proud to share that the Executive Director of Racquet Up Detroit, Rosemary O'Connor, a valued BakerHopp client nominated by Gretchen Hopp Doyle, was named one of this year’s honorees in the Women to Watch Awards.

Rosemary is the real deal when it comes to leading by example – creating access, opportunity, and mentorship for Detroit youth through education and sport, specifically squash. Her leadership reflects a deep commitment to building something bigger than herself, and the impact is clear.

At BakerHopp, we believe in recognizing people who are contributing to the success of others. Rosemary embodies that in every sense.

Congratulations, Rosemary. We’re honored to celebrate you.

Last week, BakerHopp had the opportunity to sponsor and attend the Building Bridges Gala hosted by our client, Pope Francis Center. It’s an evening centered on a powerful mission: ending chronic homelessness in Detroit and supporting individuals with dignity.

BakerHopp has supported this event for many years because the work resonates deeply with who we are. It’s not just something we show up for, it’s something we believe in.

We’re grateful to stand alongside others who are committed to this work and to a mission that continues to make a meaningful impact in Detroit. We encourage you to learn more about the important work the Pope Francis Center does here: https://popefranciscenter.org/

This week, our team had the opportunity to spend time with our partners Heather Barlow and Ryan Smith at The Cincinnati Insurance Company, one of the carrier relationships we value deeply.

At BakerHopp, one of our core beliefs is that we succeed when the people around us succeed. That includes our clients, our teammates, and the carrier partners we work with every day. The Cincinnati Insurance Company shares that same philosophy. Their long-standing commitment to relationships, stability, and thoughtful underwriting closely aligns with our approach to our work.

Meetings like this are an important reminder that strong partnerships don’t happen by accident. They are built through trust, shared values, and a mutual focus on doing what is right over the long term.

We are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside organizations that, like us, believe that contributing to the success of others is the foundation of lasting success.

Thank you to the Cincinnati team for your time this week! We look forward to continuing to build together.

At BakerHopp, we often talk about belief.

Belief in our clients.
Belief in each other.
Belief in contributing to the success of others.

Our 2025 Employee of the Year, Trinity Angel, embodies that belief every single day.

Trinity is known for building trust, following through, and documenting processes, not because she has to, but because she cares about the well-being of the agency. She collaborates across departments, supports our marketing and sales teams, helps advance key priorities, and approaches each new challenge with confidence and clarity.

When we reflect on what truly moves the needle at BakerHopp, the answer is often found in the people who quietly and consistently elevate those around them. Trinity does exactly that. As one team member recently shared, her guidance and patience provided direction and clarity at just the right moment.

She knows where to begin. And she helps others do the same.

Trinity, thank you for your dedication, positivity, and unwavering commitment to contributing to the success of others. We are proud to recognize you as BakerHopp’s 2025 Employee of the Year!

This past Monday, we had the thrill of welcoming the iconic Oscar Mayer Wienermobile to BakerHopp Insurance Group. It was every bit as magical as you’d imagine.

The visit was made even more special by Bridget Doyle, also known as Bologna Bridget. One of just a dozen Hotdoggers selected nationwide, Bridget is also the daughter of our own Gretchen Hopp Doyle. Fun fact: More people have traveled to space than have driven the iconic Wienermobile, underscoring just how rare and competitive this opportunity truly is. Alongside her co-pilot, Bun-Length Ben Kapp, Bridget welcomed guests aboard the Wienermobile and shared the joy behind this unforgettable experience.

Members of our community stopped by throughout the afternoon to take photos, meet the Hotdoggers, and join the fun. One of those visitors was longtime BakerHopp friend and strategic partner Todd Hohauser – thanks for stopping by, Todd!

The Wienermobile’s Michigan tour drew significant local media attention over the weekend, and we were proud to have it stop by the BakerHopp office. Moments like this reflect what we value most at BakerHopp: showing up for our community, celebrating our people, and building strong relationships.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this day so memorable!

For those interested, you can follow along on the Wienermobile's whereabouts and upcoming adventures here: https://wienermobile.oscarmayer.com/

Today, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Dr. King’s leadership reminds us that progress is built through service, integrity, and a commitment to doing what’s right, even when it isn’t easy. His work continues to challenge organizations and individuals alike to lead with purpose, stand up for others, and contribute to stronger, more equitable communities.

At BakerHopp, we believe our role goes beyond insurance. It’s about showing up for our clients, supporting our community, and contributing to the success of others through thoughtful guidance, responsible leadership, and service.

Today, we pause to reflect, learn, and recommit to those values.

Holiday celebrations at BakerHopp are officially in full swing!

We kicked off this year’s company party with a festive workshop at The Rustic Root Design Co. in St. Clair Shores, where our team, guided by Andrea (a former BakerHopp team member!), crafted our very own Grinch trees to take home. A little creativity, a lot of laughter, and plenty of holiday spirit set the perfect tone for the day.

Back at the BakerHopp office, we kept the fun going with our annual Ugly Sweater Contest. Congratulations to Shelby Thomason, whose truly original creation took home the top spot.

We wrapped up the afternoon by sharing a delicious meal and taking a moment to reflect on everything 2025 brought us, as individuals, as teammates, and as a company. It was the perfect way to celebrate the year behind us and look ahead to an exciting 2026.

Grateful for this team and the culture we build together every day.

Happy Holidays from all of us at BakerHopp! 🎄 ✨
