Social Security just announced a 3.6% raise for 2027.

That’s the biggest bump in three years, about $75 more a month for the average retiree, starting in January.

Before you spend it, though, remember that Medicare Part B premiums usually come out of that same check, and the 2027 numbers won’t be out until mid-November.

Kids ask about 300 questions a day. Somewhere along the way, most of us stop.

But curiosity is how every good plan begins. Not "How much do I need?" but "What do I actually want my days to look like?" Not "What's the market doing?" but "What matters most to us, and why?"

We'd rather ask you ten good questions than give you one quick answer. The best plans are built on understanding, not assumptions.

Together let’s keep asking great questions.

"How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives." — Annie Dillard. This is from her book The Writing Life (1989).

This is a simple but great reminder to live with intention or what we like to say “Live on Purpose.” This week, make sure you spend your days the way you would want to spend your life.

In the spirit of sharing good news, my son participated in Athletes Helping Athletes at Malvern Prep for the 4th year. Every time we participate, my wife and I can't help but comment on how mature and caring the young men at the school are. The way they include my son and make him feel special is something that I hope every parent gets to experience. Way to go Malvern Prep and way to go parents of these young men. You are doing an incredible job.

We went and saw Ed Sheeran last weekend. He is an amazing artist that was in the crossfire of a major controversy. This post isn't about the controversy, but his approach to how he handled it. He was pressured to cancel his concert, but his core beliefs and his "why" told him otherwise. Ed admitted that the easy path forward was not to do the show. But when he evaluated the decision, his core beliefs on why he performed concerts helped inform his decision to play on. In this situation, it paid off. The crowd showed their support, but the decision clearly weighed on him.

Bronnie Ware, worked on hospice for years. When she wrote the book "Regrets of the Dying" the number one regret was wishing they had the courage to live a life true to themselves instead of living up to the expectations of others.

Make sure to spend time evaluating your core beliefs and your "why." Don't forget to return to your core beliefs when making decisions. For me personally, it is to fully follow Jesus. That means when I am faced with very hard decisions I turn to the Bible and pray. Think about your core beliefs and when challenged, don't forget to turn those beliefs.
