Harlan County Farm Bureau AG Field Week was held at Pine Mountain Settlement School on April 8-9, 2026. 129 5th graders from 3 Elementary Schools learned how important Agriculture, Farming and Forestry is to Harlan County and Eastern Kentucky. Harlan County Farm Bureau Board Members, Pine Mountain Settlement School Outdoor Education Staff worked together to make this event possible.
President Dustin Miniard said, “Having the opportunity to partner with Pine Mountain Settlement School to teach the students of our County the importance of Agriculture is a great privilege. Ag Education is a top priority of Harlan County Farm Bureau.”
All classes were hands on learning. Students learned the following: how to plant a garden, all about greenhouses, the compost process, farm animals and tree and wildflower identification and their uses.
The students learned a lot and enjoyed the outdoor field trip at Pine Mountain Settlement School. Harlan County Farm Bureau proudly supported the event.
